Google today announced new ways to enhance the Play platform, including several game-related updates. These updates include a new feature for Google Play Games on PC that lets players run two games at the same time. Play one and grind the other. Other updates include new games coming to Play Pass and new experiences for Play Points earners.
The new Play for PC feature is not intended to allow active play in both games. Rather, the user will play one game while “watching resources” in the second game. In other words, the second game will always be a kind of idle game where the player steadily accumulates resources over time. Play for PC currently supports hundreds of games, many of which are idle games with timers, so Android gamers may find this feature useful.
Google also announced what new games are coming to Play Pass. Asphalt Legends Unite launches today, while Call of Duty: Mobile and Candy Crush Saga launch on August 1. The platform will add Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance later this year.
Google also announced that it is adding new rewards and experiences to the Play Points program in addition to games, including a membership event at San Diego Comic-Con where Silver+ members will have VIP access to the “Wheel of Champions,” created in collaboration with Marvel Games and Kabam, which will give them the opportunity to earn exclusive rewards, including photo opportunities.
