Yuvraj Singh’s father and former cricketer Yograj Singh has once again slammed 2011 World Cup winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Yograj has been openly critical of Dhoni and has often accused him of sabotaging Yuvraj’s career. Despite his past achievements, Yograj continues to express his displeasure over the way Dhoni’s decisions have affected Yuvraj’s cricketing journey and often says that his son’s career was derailed because of Dhoni’s influence during that period.
Yograj Singh shared his views on MS Dhoni.
Yuvraj Singh, on the other hand, never repeated such sentiments and was consistently positive about his former captain and teammate Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Yuvraj always maintained a respectful and appreciative attitude towards Dhoni and often highlighted the supportive and collaborative relationship they shared during their time together on the cricket field.
In a recent interview with Zee Switch YouTube channel, Yograj Singh once again claimed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is responsible for the downturn in Yuvraj Singh’s career. Yograj expressed his lingering resentment towards Dhoni and said that he can never forgive Dhoni for the influence he had on his son’s cricketing journey. This criticism is something that Yograj keeps talking about the former India captain.
He said, “I will never forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he did to my son, it is all coming out now. There is no forgiveness in life. I have never done two things in my life. First, I have never forgiven anyone who has wronged me and second, I have never embraced them in my life. Be it my family or my children.”
Yograj Singh added that Yuvraj Singh could have played for 4-5 more years and attributed his son’s early retirement to Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Yograj accused Dhoni of cutting short Yuvraj’s cricket career, implying that his influence played a major role in Yuvraj’s early retirement from the sport.
He further said, “That man (MS Dhoni) has ruined the life of my son who could have played for 4-5 more years. I wish everyone had a son like Yuvraj. Even Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have said in the past that there will never be another Yuvraj Singh. India should award him the Bharat Ratna for his contribution in fighting cancer and winning the World Cup for the country.”
The glorious career of Yuvraj Singh:
