Miami’s Xavier Edwards became just the second Marlins player ever to plate for the cycle in Sunday’s 6-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Edwards hit his first career home run on the first pitch of the game, drew a leadoff walk in the third, doubled in the fifth and tripled in the seventh. He finished the afternoon with an infield hit against NL reliever Devin Williams with two outs in the ninth.
He reached base in all four of his plate appearances, scoring two runs and driving in an RBI.
Until last year, the Marlins were the only active major league team that had never had a hit for the cycle. Luis Arraez became the first to accomplish the feat on April 11, 2023, when he went 4-of-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs in an 8-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
