Woman charged with drunk driving accident killed the bride She injured three other people, including her groom, on their wedding night and pleaded guilty Monday afternoon to multiple charges.
CBS affiliate WCSC-TV reports Jamie Lee Komoroski pleaded guilty to felony DWI, two counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury or death, and one count of reckless homicide.
On the night of April 28, 2023, authorities say Komorowski was behind the wheel of a rental car chasing a golf cart carrying a newlywed couple. Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson It is located in Folly Beach, a town located on Folly Island, southeast of Charleston. They had been married just a few hours earlier, and Miller was still in her wedding dress.
Miller died in the crash and Hutchinson suffered brain damage and multiple broken bones. Two other family members riding the golf cart were also injured.
Authorities said Komorowski was driving 65 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Komorowski told the court Monday that he was guilty, that he was not forced to plead guilty, and waived the jury trial he was entitled to, WCSC reported.
Last June, a judge approved more than $1.3 million in partial settlements in wrongful death cases following Hutchinson’s case.
