Detroit Lions Running Back David Montgomery There was a good reason why the Lions comically grabbed carrots instead of turkey legs after their Thanksgiving win.
Montgomery, 27, was captured by CBS cameras gnawing on a celebratory carrot instead of the customary turkey after the Lions’ 23-20 win over the Chicago Bears on Thursday, Nov. 28, despite his teammates. Jared Goff, Jamir Gibbs and Amon-Ra Saint Brown Head straight for the traditionally preferred bird.
As it turns out, Montgomery adopted a vegan diet in 2020 as a member of the Bears, which he credits with improving his level of play.
“That’s probably the biggest thing,” Montgomery told ChicagoBears.com in December 2020 about the diet change. “I feel more energetic. Just eat healthy and take better care of my body.”
Viewers at home couldn’t help but delight in the dichotomy of the images.
One fan wrote via Another fan wrote, “All these guys are smashing the turkey… but David Montgomery is nibbling on the carrot.” Carrot looks like a stupid little kid with an ice cream cone in the corner WTF 💀😂🤣.”
Montgomery told CBS despite not buying a turkey on Thursday. Tracy Wolfson There was still a lot to be thankful for, including his running back teammate, Gibbs.
“I’m so grateful to him,” Montgomery said in a post-match interview with Wolfson, 49. “At the end of the day, I am grateful to all the players. Jared (Goff) is leading us.”
Montgomery then gave a nod to the Bears, for whom he played.
“I’ve been there before, so I kind of know what it feels like,” he said. “I think it’s crazy love and it’s gotten me to a good place. I’m grateful to be here and I’m excited to see what comes next.”
The Lions’ Türkiye Day win (10th straight overall) improved their season record to 11-1, keeping the team atop the NFC standings.
A celebratory turkey platter was enjoyed after the game by Goff, 30. enjoy The Lions earned their first win on Thanksgiving Day since 2016.
“It’s something I’ll never forget,” Goff told Wolfson. “It was actually pretty good. The food was good. We were having a great time. It’s awesome. “It’s a memory I will cherish forever.”
This loss was especially painful for the Bears, who fired their coach. Matt Everplus Friday, November 29th.
