Some superstars from the Aussie Sevens women’s team have signed Super Rugby contracts with a view to next year’s World Cup.
Nine Aussie Sevens players have signed with Super Rugby to join the national team for the 2025 Rugby World Cup.
Record try scorer Maddison Levi, who won the 2024 World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year award, is among the players to be signed.
Levi’s sister Teagan and veteran Sevens star Charlotte Caslick also put their names on the dotted line. Isabella Nasser, Khali Henwood, Sariah Paki, Demi Hayes, Tia Hinds and Bienne Terita round out the list.
Next year’s tournament is proving to be of great interest to 7-a-side players, with Australian players recently switching to 15-a-side to compete in the UK. American superstar Ilona Maher signed for the Bristol Bears in early December with the same goal in mind.
The transition between the ages of 7 and 15 is more common in women’s rugby. Players such as England’s Megan Jones and Mo Hunt and Wales’ Jasmine Joyce switch codes frequently.

Previously players have moved from ages 7 to 15 to play at RWC, but this tournament feels significant. Some of the biggest stars on the planet are making the switch to take part in the history-making tournament.
The 2025 event has already sold 220,000 tickets. The final at Twickenham, now known as the Allianz Stadium, is expected to sell out.
Aussie Sevens: Who are the stars of the team?
Maddison Levi is one of the huge stars hoping to grace England’s pitches in 2025. She is one of the biggest women’s sevens players at the moment. The Levy score has been attempted for fun and has been recorded 14 times at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Caslick is another landmark signing that fans will be hoping to see in an Australian jersey next year. She has won Olympic gold, Sevens RWC gold and Commonwealth gold and is the longest-serving Australian women’s sevens player in history. She also became the first woman to play in 50 sevens tournaments. Now she’s aiming for 15s glory.
All Sevens players are achieving success. The team has been World Rugby Sevens Series champions three times, in 2016, 2018 and 2022. They have won the World Cup Sevens series twice. They won gold and silver medals at the 2022 and 2018 Commonwealth Games respectively.
Australia also won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Australia’s fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics was shocking. They were among the gold medal favorites but lost to Canada in the semifinals and the United States in the bronze medal final.
Australian Women’s High Performance General Manager Jaime Fernandez said in a statement: “The ability to play multiple formats of the game is a unique and special opportunity. Like representing your country at the Olympics, one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Games and Rugby World Cup.
“As we work to accommodate each schedule, increase player depth and strengthen our talent pool, we aim to retain the best players and compete at world events each year.”
