Whitney Alford, the mother of Kendrick Lamar’s children, has posted on social media for the first time since her feud with Drake.
After a flurry of albums from Kendrick and Drake, it seems their musical brawl has finally come to a halt. The overwhelming consensus, both on the charts and on social media, is that Lamar won. But Drake still made some pretty damning claims about the Compton rapper’s relationship with his longtime love, Whitney Alford.
In “Family Matters,” Drake questions Kendrick’s reasons for moving from Los Angeles to New York, referencing Lamar’s relationship with the mother of his children.
“Why did you move to New York? Is it because you are single? / I proposed to her in 2015, but I don’t want to make her her real wife / I don’t think this wedding will happen, right?” Drake rapped on this song. “Cause we know the girl you actually like / Your darkest secrets are coming to light.”
He also accuses Kendrick of physically assaulting Alford in “The Heart Part 6”, as well as hinting that Whitney’s children may not actually be Kendrick’s children, but his longtime manager and business partner Dave Free’s relationship between the two. Mention .
“I heard one of them kids might be Dave Free/ Don’t make him Dave Free/ ‘Cause if your GM is your BM’s secret BD/ Then this is all nonsense to me,” he says in the song.
Since most of Drake’s claims center around Kendrick and Whitney’s relationship, fans are waiting for her to weigh in on the beef on social media.
On Sunday, May 12, she finally broke her silence. But she didn’t say much.
The mother of two posted a video of a potter’s wheel experiment on Instagram for Parents’ Day.
“Happy birthday to me,” she wrote, before going on to add, “Happy Mother’s Day to all my real children!”
Obviously, this doesn’t tell us much about her thoughts on Drake’s claims or the beef, but if it tells us anything, it’s that Whitney is enjoying life outside the industry unhindered, whether her fans like it or not.
