The Chicago White Sox signed free agent third baseman Nick Senzel on Wednesday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Senzel, 29, was drafted by the Washington Nationals on July 6 and released five days later. He appeared in 64 games for Washington this year, hitting .209 with seven home runs and 18 RBIs.
Senzel has played in 441 games over six major league seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (2019-23) and Nationals, hitting .235 with 40 home runs and 143 RBI.
Chicago made two official moves Wednesday, designating Danny Mendick for assignment and optioning third baseman Lenin Sosa to Triple-A Charlotte.
Mendick, 30, is hitting just .197 in 47 games this season, with three home runs and eight RBIs.
Sosa, 24, hit .237 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 52 major league games for the White Sox in 2024.
The Athletic reports that Martin Maldonado was also designated for designation after hitting .119 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 48 games this season.
