With all his accomplishments and countless records in the NFL, Tom Brady is arguably the league’s GOAT. He is often considered one of the best athletes in the world, alongside legends like Roger Federer, Sachin Tendulkar, and Michael Jordan. But despite his accomplishments and various accolades, Brady is hesitant to acknowledge the title.
After a 13-3 Super Bowl LIII victory over the Los Angeles Rams in February 2019, Brady said he didn’t like being labeled with a title. He said in an exclusive interview with Good Morning America:
“I don’t even like it. It makes me cringe.”

Brady believes the title can have a negative impact on his performance because he is more drawn to criticism than praise.

“I want you to say, ‘You’re trash, you’re too old, you’re too slow, you can’t do this anymore,’” Brady said. “And I’d say, ‘Thank you.’ sopping; I will prove you wrong.’”
Brady shined brightest in the second half of his career. Over the years, he has aged like an experienced fine wine. Alex Guerrero’s flexibility treatments have helped Brady stay injury-free and healthy, thus preventing the age factor from catching up with him.
Brady believes he is his own biggest critic, which motivates him to do his best.
“I think my personal criticism would be leaving the practice field and saying, ‘That was the worst day, get over it,’” he said. “Sports has always brought that in me.”
Tom Brady stood up to silence the doubters.
If you pay close attention to Tom Brady’s career trajectory, you’ll see that he’s risen up the ranks every time he’s been most questioned. After being drafted No. 199 in the 2000 draft, Brady was benched until an injury to Drew Bledsoe gave him his opportunity in the 2001-02 season. Brady led the Patriots to Super Bowl XXXVI, thus beginning the Brady-Belichick era.
Another instance occurred later in his career when he left the Patriots. Fans doubted whether Brady would ever be the same without Belichick and the Patriots, and Brady proved them wrong again. He joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and led them to a Super Bowl victory in his first season.
These Super Bowl wins highlight the essential nature of Brady getting back at those who doubted him.
