What is fog? It is an action-packed game where gameplay is one of the main focuses of the game. For games like this, game performance plays an important role in the overall enjoyment players can get from the game.
One thing most players will look at when it comes to performance is frames per second, or FPS. Many games have their FPS locked by default, and What the Fog is no different.
Luckily, let’s take a look at how to unlock FPS in What the Fog and utilize the full power of your PC. The game’s FPS is fixed at 60, which feels too low these days.
How to unlock FPS
What the Fog’s FPS cannot be unlocked directly through the game. Fortunately, there is a very quick and easy way to open Fog’s game files saved on your computer. By default, the FPS limit is 60, but you can change it using our step-by-step guide.
- First, press the Windows+R button on your keyboard. After doing so, copy and paste it. “%localappdata%”. This will move you to the “localappdata” folder.
- Once you arrive, please proceed to: “WhatTheFog\Saved\Config\Windows”.
- need to open the inside “GameUserSettings.ini” Use “notepad++”. Just right-click and select the Open With option.
- In the next step, you will need to edit a few lines of code to unlock FPS. You will need to enter your desired FPS in the location highlighted in the image below. The maximum FPS for images is 120, but you can set it to whatever you want.
Once you’re done, save the edited file and set it as read-only. You can make a file read-only by marking it as read-only through the file properties.
This method won’t exactly unlock FPS, but it’s the closest method for now. It’s very inconvenient that there’s no way to do this through the game, and fans will hope that this issue is addressed in a future update.
