Every year, Six Nations is mentioned every time England plays with Scotland. What is the Calcutta Cup?
It is the oldest rival relationship in the test rugby, and the annual Six Nations Trophy was first awarded in 1879. The trophy was named after Calcutta RFC, which was formed in India in 1873 after the success of the previous Christmas match. It is reported that 20 Scotland players and 20 British players participated.

The first game of the Calcutta Cup was held at Raeburn Place, the home stadium of Edinburgh Academical and ended 3-3. Scotland’s Ninian Finlay scored a drop goal and Lennard Stokes scored England’s goal. Then George Burton touched the away team, but in the rugby Union Point System at that time, he couldn’t get a score by any attempt, and he only got a chance to score a goal.
However, the trophy is already on the presence of the previous tie, with the results that go back to 1871. The results included 3 draws, England 3 wins, and Scotland 2.
