Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has accused Kamran Akmal of making derogatory and racist remarks against India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh.
The former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman said this as Arshdeep Singh was gearing up for the final match between India and Pakistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday (June 9).
On a local news channel, Kamran Akmal mocked Arshdeep Singh and his religion, saying: “Anything can happen… It’s 12 o’clock… Sikhs should not be given balls after 12 o’clock.”
A video of Akmal’s remarks is doing the rounds on social media, drawing heavy criticism from Indian fans. Harbhajan Singh also decided to criticize the former Pakistan cricketer for his offensive remarks and reminded him of the glorious history of Sikhism. He also asked Akmal to express his gratitude towards the Sikh community.
“Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. Before you open your dirty mouth, you should know the history of Sikhs. We Sikhs saved our mothers and sisters when they were kidnapped by invaders. The time was invariably 12 o’clock. Shame on you… Thank you Take heart” wrote Harbhajan Singh on X (formerly Twitter).

Team India wins thriller:
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh held his nerve and easily defended 17 runs in the final over to lift India to a thrilling six-wicket win. Chasing 120 runs, Pakistan needed 18 runs as Imad Wasim was struck in the final over.
Arshdeep Singh almost sealed the game off the first ball by dismissing Imad. He conceded two boundaries in the over but India remained in control throughout, restricting Pakistan to 113 for 7. Pakistan were only 80 for 3 after 14 overs and suffered a collapse that derailed their innings. Jasprit Bumrah took charge of the ball for India and took 3 wickets for 14 runs.
Earlier in the match, Pakistan had scored 119 runs against India after opting to bowl first. India were also in a good position but suffered a collapse and were reduced from 89 for 3 to 96 for 7. However, the total of 119 runs was eventually enough as India recorded their second win. Just like the game.
