Bayern plans to pay Burnley around 10 million pounds ($12.7 million) in compensation. The two clubs agreed the framework of the deal after a week of consultations.
Kompany, who signed a contract extension with Turf Moor in May 2023, has already verbally accepted the Bundesliga side’s offer. This will be the former Manchester City defender’s third managerial appointment following spells at Anderlecht and Burnley.
He earned promotion to the Premier League in his first campaign at Turf Moor but finished 19th this season as Burnley were sentenced to an immediate return to the Championship.
Bayern turned to Kompany after suffering a series of rejections while searching for Tuchel’s replacement. Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick have all turned down takeover opportunities. Negotiations to remain with Tuchel also broke down.
Bayern have had a disappointing season, missing out on Germany’s top two for the first time since 2011. They reached the Champions League semi-finals but finished two steps ahead of Real Madrid.
