Vancouver Rise has added a Canadian forward to their roster with the signing of Jessica De Filippo.
The 23-year-old from Saint-Lazare, Quebec, played for the Whitecaps FC Women’s League 1 BC team in July, making nine appearances in all competitions.
Rise sporting director Stephanie Labbé said in a press release that De Filippo is a “talented attacking player” who the Northern Super League team would like to see grow.
The 5-foot-10 forward scored twice for the Whitecaps in the team’s interprovincial championship semifinal win over the Calgary Blizzard and started all five games in the inaugural CONCACAF W Champions Cup.
She previously played in Spain’s top division Liga F and Germany’s top flight Frauen-Bundesliga.
De Filippo forward represented Canada at the 2018 FIFA U-17 World Cup and was called up to the senior women’s national team in 2019.
“At the age of 23, I have already gained a lot of experience playing in the top professional league,” said Labbe. “I’m happy to see her score a goal in front of our fans.”
