Ubisoft quietly released Captain Laserhawk: The GAME, a spinoff of a loosely connected spinoff to Far Cry, in 2013 with the standalone expansion Blood Dragon. But it’s no wonder why the gaming giant has kept this project relatively quiet. Since it’s an NFT-based game, it doesn’t look good even in early access.
This all-new Web3 game requires users to register as a ‘Nizi Warrior’ and purchase an ‘ID Card’ NFT before the action can begin in this rudimentary top-down shooter based on the 2023 Netflix show Captain Laserhawk: A. Blood Dragon Remix.
stick to your guns
Despite receiving backlash for its past involvement in blockchain-based activities and NFT efforts, Ubisoft’s leadership team has maintained a steady track in this space. The latest offering in the pipeline is Captain Laserhawk: The GAME, which Ubisoft has yet to deliver. really It made too much noise.
Here’s the trailer:
you’re right. You saw Rayman there.
In Captain Laserhawk, players are invited to take part in a reality TV show hosted by none other than Rayman. They will fight in top-down shooter-based matches alongside seven other players and work to ‘unlock hundreds of cool and unique cosmetics that will stand out’.
It all starts with purchasing a unique ID card that forms the core NFT connection.
Hosted on the Aribtrum L2 blockchain, potential players can select NFTs using the Magic Eden Marketplace. However, there are only 10,000 NFTs available. At the time of publication, the cheapest Niji Warrior ID card cost around $14, and the most ambitious owner was trying to sell his Niji Warrior for the odd price of $4.4 million.
It’s clearly a joke because they’re asking for ‘1,337’ ETH.
The first 26 Nizi Warrior ID cards are not listed for sale. This means that the owner currently holds onto this card tightly. I don’t understand how it all works, but from what I can see in Magic Eden, it looks like one ‘owner’ is claiming ownership of hundreds of unique NFTs in the game.
Ubisoft leveraged Aleph.im’s technology to bring these NFTs to life, as it did in Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, which launched this year.
