President-elect Trump is scheduled to be inaugurated in the Capitol Rotunda on January 20 with members of Congress, world leaders, and allies in attendance. The decision to move the event inside the Capitol comes as snowstorms and cold temperatures are expected to blanket Washington over the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to rise as high as 22 degrees Fahrenheit during Monday’s swearing-in of Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. For his 2009 inauguration, President Obama took the oath outdoors amid a cold front with temperatures reaching 28 degrees.
The 2025 inaugural event is expected to be attended by a variety of celebrities and business moguls, including performers Carrie Underwood, Lee Greenwood, Christopher Macchio and The Village People. Mark Zuckerburg, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are also scheduled to attend this week’s festivities.
President Trump’s reorganization ceremony is closed to the public, but can be viewed online. NewsNation broadcasts events on cable channels, websites and streaming platforms.
C-Span, like NBC News, also offers live broadcasts without commentary.
