Donald Trump made an outrageous claim at a campaign rally in Las Vegas on Friday, claiming Kamala Harris had been asked a question ahead of this week’s debate.
“Was she asked a question? Was she? I heard she was asked a question, and I heard she had something stuck in her ear. Something stuck in her ear. ‘No, Kamala, do this. Say this, Kamala. Okay, be quiet. Too many people are watching,’” Trump said, imagining someone speaking to Harris through the earpiece.
The former president’s comments come just days after he appeared on “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday to lay the groundwork for his baseless rally claims.
The Huffington Post has reached out to the Trump campaign, but it did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Conservative commentator and 9/11 truth-seeker Laura Loomer has also championed the earbuds conspiracy theory, and she recently drew backlash when she attended a ceremony alongside Trump to mark the 23rd anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.
“Interesting earring choice tonight, @KamalaHarris…” Loomer wrote on Wednesday, along with a photo of Harris at the debate and a screenshot of an article about “audio earrings.”
