Former President Trump on Sunday questioned his participation in next month’s debate with Vice President Harris, hosted by ABC News.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump complained about network panelist and host Jonathan Karl’s interview with Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) on “This Week,” and questioned why he should agree to a debate hosted by the network.
“Watched the ABC Fake News this morning. They had a flimsy reporter Jonathan Karl (K?) do an outrageous and biased interview with Tom Cotton (fantastic!), and then they had this so-called Trump hate panel. And I wondered why they had to have a debate with Kamala Harris on that show,” Trump wrote.
Trump noted that “This Week” panelist Donna Brazile gave the Clinton campaign advance notice of town hall questions during the 2016 primary, suggesting something similar could happen with Harris. He also questioned whether ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, who is involved in the lawsuit, would be involved, but there is no indication that will be the case.
“They have a lot of questions to answer!!!” Trump wrote. “Why did Harris turn down Fox, NBC, CBS, and even CNN? Stay tuned!!!”
Trump previously agreed to a debate hosted by ABC News with President Biden on September 10. After Biden replaced Harris as the Democratic nominee, Trump doubted whether he would participate.
The two sides eventually agreed to hold the debate on ABC News on September 10. Trump had pushed for additional debates on Fox News and NBC News in September, but the Harris campaign said it would only agree to an ABC News event before discussing a potential second debate.
The September 10 debate will be held in Philadelphia and will be moderated by David Muir and Lindsey Davis, the network reported.
