President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday appointed Devin Nunes, CEO of his social media platform Truth Social, to lead the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, an independent group within the administration.
Nunes will continue to lead Trump Media & Technology Group, a public company with a market capitalization of nearly $8 billion. Trump is currently the company’s largest shareholder, holding about 115 million shares worth about $4.2 billion.
Nunes previously served as a Republican congressman from California and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.
“Devin will use his experience and key role in exposing Russia, Russia, and Russian fraud to provide me with an independent assessment of the effectiveness and validity of the activities of the U.S. intelligence community,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Saturday. “We will provide it,” he said.
The board “has access to all information necessary to perform its functions” and has direct contact with the president, according to the Office of National Intelligence.
Nunes has led Trump Media since late 2021. His selection to lead the Intelligence Advisory Committee further links the company with the incoming Trump administration. Linda McMahon, Trump’s pick to head the Education Department, and Cathy Patel, his pick for FBI director, sit on the Trump Media board of directors along with the president-elect’s son, Donald Trump Jr.
