Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has signed a new contract in Jacksonville through the 2024 season, and just weeks before the season opener, he was full of praise for his new teammates.
Trevor Lawrence on the new campaign
Trevor Lawrence, who signed a new contract with the Jaguars during the offseason, will be hoping for more success in Florida this year after failing to make the playoffs in 2023 with a disappointing 9-8 record.
The Jaguars signed a number of promising rookies in the offseason, with new wide receivers Gabe Davis, Devin DuVernay and first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr. all set to join the team in 2024.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Lawrence said of the NFL: ‘Insiders’ He gives his thoughts on Jacksonville’s newest star.
“Brenton (Strange) didn’t get a lot of touches last year, but he’s a young guy with a lot of talent and a really good player. I think he can take flight this year.”

“And then you have all the receivers, Christian (Kirk), Devin (Duvernay), Brian (Thomas Jr.) and Gabe (Davis). Those are guys we brought in in the offseason, and that’s just a few. We have a lot of young guys that are playing really well.”
But it wasn’t just the new receivers that Lawrence raved about. The quarterback was quick to mention veteran tight end Evan Engram, too.
“We have a really dynamic group of pass catchers,” Lawrence said. “I don’t want to talk about just receivers, because tight end is another factor.”
“We have a great tight end. You talk about Evan (Engram). Obviously, he had a great year last year. He’s really good with the ball in his hands. He does a lot to help us. He’s a good blocker, too.”
Having signed a five-year extension with the Jaguars, Lawrence will have to prove himself again this year, and fans will be hoping that his $37.5 million signing bonus and $55 million salary will be enough to finally get Jacksonville into the playoffs.
