Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has purchased an ownership stake in a Canadian racehorse named after his music superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
In a press release Tuesday, Team Valor said the three-time Super Bowl winner has acquired a “substantial stake” in Swift Delivery, a 3-year-old gelding who lives and races at Woodbine Racecourse in Toronto.
Kelsey has been dating Swift for about a year, and has appeared at several of her concerts on The Eras Tour, which takes place in Toronto in November and Vancouver in December. Swift has also been an avid fan of Kelsey’s many NFL games.
“It’s very exciting,” Barry Irwin, founder and CEO of Team Valor International, told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
“I met him at the Kentucky Derby and spent time with him and stuff, and we talked about horses and everything. When this horse came out and one of my partners already owned it, and I saw the name, I thought, this is a natural fit.”
The horse’s name is ‘a complete coincidence’: Irwin
Woodbine Entertainment, which operates Woodbine Racetrack, said in a statement Wednesday that it is open to Kells and Swift visiting Swift Delivery in November.

“Swift Delivery, who has already won two races this year, will race in the $125,000 Toronto Cup presented by Crown Royal this Saturday, which will be the young horse’s first significant race,” the report said.
“With Taylor Swift hitting the road for her Era Tour in Toronto this November, the couple can visit Swift Delivery’s stable anytime!”
Irwin told The Associated Press that the horse’s name was “completely coincidental.” He added that Kells had been a co-owner for about a month and gave his permission to make his involvement public Tuesday.
Kelsey is friends with Alex, the son of Phantom Fireworks CEO Bruce Zoldan, the Associated Press reported. The Zoldan family has a long history in horse racing, including an interest in 2011 Derby winner Animal Kingdom.
