Main article: Man U signs Simons
Manchester United are looking to outsmart Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig in the race for the Paris Saint-Germain winger. Sabi SimmonsAccording to Sports,
Simmons spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig, scoring eight goals and providing 13 assists in the Bundesliga and attracting attention across Europe.
The report states that the situation is similar to the deal United made for Leny Yoro last week. In both cases, United were at a disadvantage in signing the player, and in this case, the strong links between PSG and Leipzig make the deal look simple. However, there could be an opportunity for the Red Devils to sign Simons. United boss Erik ten Hag is known to be a huge fan of Simons, and his new assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is trying to convince the 21-year-old to join the club.
There are reports that PSG could be in a position to demand €100 million for the Netherlands international, a figure that would make it difficult for Bayern Munich and Leipzig to make a deal. Bayern had previously approached in the €70 million region, but United’s financial muscle could see the Bavarian club lose out to the fallen Premier League giants.
Barcelona are also reported to be interested in Simons. The winger spent time in Barcelona’s youth academy and the Spanish club are reportedly interested in a reunion. However, the Catalan giants are unable to match the financial demands of a potential deal, effectively eliminating the club from the race.
