Tottenham Hotspur faced a slight injury crisis before facing Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
With Liverpool, Newcastle United and Arsenal already booking places in the last four, United or Tottenham will be looking to do the same.
United have not won at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since October 2021, when they won 3-0 in the dying embers of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time.
However, their argument could be helpful as Spurs will not be at their full defensive strength in a massive clash.
According to Manchester United’s official website, full-back “Destiny Udogie is hoping to prove his fitness after the full-back was sent off during the 5-0 win at Southampton in the Premier League.”
Tottenham manager Anjou Postecoglou insisted the defender was not injured but was “sore” and would be out of reach if he played this evening.
Midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will also miss the game after being suspended for comments he made about team-mate Son Heung-min, after losing an appeal to have his ban shortened.
The problem doesn’t end here. “Ben Davies, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are all out along with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.”
Overall, this means that five of the back six who started at Old Trafford in September are unable to play, with only right-back Pedro Foro being fit.
Van der Ven in particular would be a big mistake as United struggled to maintain his pace and power in both attack and defense in the last game.
Forwards Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Richarlson are also unavailable for the hosts.
United will not have Luke Shaw or Mason Mount available for this match. Marcus Rashford was also left out of the away squad as drama over his future continued. Noussair Mazraoui is also a doubt after picking up a knock at the weekend.
The match kicks off tonight at 8pm UK time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London.
