“Let’s fucking go!!!”
In Week 17, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold earned the honor after leading his team to a 27-25 win. green bay packers. The win, which improved the Vikings’ record to 14-2, was practically essential to the Vikings’ hopes of earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Now here’s the Vikings’ regular season finale opponent: Detroit Lions It will determine who wins the NFC North and earns the No. 1 seed in the conference.

Darnold’s performance Sunday was worth remembering as Minnesota heads into next week. He completed 33 of 43 passes for 377 yards, three touchdowns and an interception with a passer rating of 116.1. After coming up empty-handed on the team’s first two possessions of the game, Darnold led the Vikings on five scoring drives in the second and third quarters. The score helped Minnesota build a comfortable 27-10 lead, big enough to withstand a late rally from the Packers.
When presented with the LFG Player of the Year trophy, Darnold joked that it was heavier than it looked. But he made it clear that moments like Sunday’s game aren’t that big of a deal for him and the Vikings.

When asked how the Vikings have so much confidence, Darnold told Brady, “We have all the confidence in the world.” “First and foremost, it’s about playing as a team. Our defense does its job. Our special teams do their job. And as an offense, we try to execute as best we can. At times it felt like we did. . today.
“Obviously there are a ton of ways we can get better, but yeah, I think we’re going to continue to work on it and get better every week, every day and we’ll go from there.”
A big reason Darnold has such confidence is the presence of Justin Jefferson. The 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year didn’t find the end zone on Sunday, but he made a notable one-handed catch in the fourth quarter that prompted Brady to compare him to Vikings legend Randy Moss.

That catch actually didn’t count due to a holding penalty. Still, Jefferson had eight receptions for 92 yards on Sunday and a decisive second-half catch to help Minnesota win.
“He’s a pretty good player,” Darnold told Brady about Jefferson. “It’s really fun to play with those guys. We’ve got JA (Jordan Addison). Speedy Jalen Nailor made some really good catches. TJ Hockenson, I could go on and on about the guys we have.”
“But yeah, the Jets are amazing and we’re so lucky to have him as a teammate.”
This partnership between Darnold and Jefferson makes the Vikings one of the surprise teams of the 2024 regular season. Minnesota will get a chance to take down Detroit, last year’s NFC North champion and one of the favorites to win this year’s Super Bowl, next week.
But Darnold doesn’t see the Vikings as his punching-punching younger brother, focusing on the task at hand.
“We’re going to take it one game at a time, Tom. You know how we do it,” Darnold said. “That’s been our mindset. That’s been our mindset all year long. In fact, back in April, that’s been our mindset back then.
“Why change now?”
