To commemorate world sight day This Thursday (October 10), the Duchess of Edinburgh will read a special CBeebies bedtime story to the nation.
Written by an Irish-born, Bristol-based author Yasmin Ismail, ‘Rex’s Specifications’ It’s the story of a little lion who wears new glasses and doesn’t want to go to school. He tries to hide them, but hiding specs so big and round and red is tricky.
But Rex’s specs eventually earn him gold stars, new friends, and most importantly, help him see better.
The Duchess of Edinburgh is passionate about supporting the sight loss community and ending preventable blindness.
In the trailer for the CBeebies program, His Royal Highness said: “Millions of people need glasses to see the world clearly. World Sight Day reminds us all to take care of our eyes, whether we need glasses or not. Our eyes are precious. Our eyesight is something that needs to be cherished and cared for. So this World Sight Day, don’t forget to take care of your eyes.”
CBeebies Bedtime Story airs every weekday at 6.50pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
