TJD reveals Draymond’s message to underperforming Warriors after dismal loss appeared first on NBC Sports Bay Area
To put it mildly, things aren’t looking good for the Warriors right now.
Coach Steve Kerr labeled it a “crisis of confidence” after another disappointing 114-98 loss to the Miami Heat on Tuesday.
As teammate Trayce Jackson-Davis revealed after the game, forward Draymond Green also offered deep reflection on Golden State’s struggles.
After being asked about the Warriors’ recent struggles following their hot 12-3 start, Jackson-Davis shared what has gone wrong over the past month and a half.
“When the bullets run out, everything is good. Everything is great,” Jackson-Davis told reporters. “But we can’t be the frontrunner.
“We’ve got to find our soul. That’s what Draymond said. What we lost was our soul, we lost our mind. We’ve got to get that back. We’ve got to play tough basketball. We’ve got to play. “Be confident… and I think you can find your way back if you do that.”
Like Kerr, Green’s own assessment of the Warriors’ slump lacks a simple, superficial solution. Instead, the team’s problems appear to be more deep-rooted, as if their championship-level identity has been undermined.
So as Golden State embarks on a four-game Midwest road trip next week, the team will have a lot to think about as it looks to get back to its winning ways.
I hope that spirit and spirit will never disappear.
