Senator Tim Scott (R-Calif.) married his fiancée Mindy North in a ceremony in South Carolina over the weekend.
Nearly eight months after the South Carolina senator proposed to interior designer Nosse, the couple exchanged vows Saturday at Seacoast Church in Charleston, according to the Post and Courier.
“Tonight, we promised to cherish and nurture each other and our marriage for the rest of our lives. Mindy, you have made me the happiest person in the world. I love you,” Scott wrote to X on Saturday.
Scott posted two photos from the ceremony, along with a Bible verse from Matthew 19:6: “So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Close family and friends attended the special day, including former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), South Carolina Sens. Lindsey Graham, John Thune (S.D.), James Lankford (Okla.) and John Barrasso (Wyo.), the Post and Courier reported.
According to the Post and Courier, former Rep. Trey Gowdy (S.C.), a Fox News host and co-author of a book with Scott in 2018, also attended the event.
Scott said the two met at church and began dating, where they bonded through Bible study. During the brief presidential campaign last year, the senator was reluctant to discuss his personal life until September, when he revealed he was with “someone special.”
He did not name Noce at the time, calling her only a “lovely Christian girl.” Her first public appearance came two months later, when she shared the stage with him at a November presidential debate.
Speculation about the senator’s romantic life had been rife since he revealed late last year that he was in a relationship, with some wondering if he could become the first unmarried president in more than a century before wrapping up his White House campaign.
Former President Trump, who received Scott’s endorsement earlier this year, congratulated the senator and Nosse on social media.
“Congratulations to my longtime friend, Senator Tim Scott, and his beautiful bride Mindy North. They got married today in South Carolina. They have a great future ahead of them. God bless them both!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday.
