Speaking to the media ahead of the match against Montenegro, Turkey national team coach Vincenzo Montella addressed rumors that Claudio Ranieri would be placed on the Roma bench before his appointment last week.
Montella, 50, is said to be one of the final candidates to replace Ivan Juric, who was sacked eight days ago. Despite the speculation, the former Roma striker has made it clear that his focus remains on his current role in Türkiye.
“There is always a lot of speculation in football. It’s part of this job. As I mentioned recently, I am very happy to be here,” he told reporters.
“I get criticized sometimes, but I feel loved here. “If that happens, the first person to know will be the federation president.”
He continued, “We have a good relationship and we can talk about anything. Rest assured. I am happy here. “We discussed this a few weeks ago, and as far as I know, the topic is closed.”
