Geralt will return in The Witcher 4, but according to the character’s voice actor, he won’t be a main character.
In the interview, Doug Cockle talks about the fourth game currently in development by Polish studio CD Projekt Red.
“The Witcher 4 has been announced. I can’t say anything about it,” Cockle said.
“We know Geralt will be in the game, but we don’t know how much. The game won’t focus on Geralt, so it won’t be about him this time. We don’t know who it will be about. I’m looking forward to finding out!”
Cockle also claimed he had not yet seen the game’s script.
Two-thirds of CD Projekt’s staff are currently working on the next game in the Witcher series, codenamed Polaris.
As revealed at the 2023 fiscal year earnings conference held in March 2024, the development team currently has 403 employees.
Joint CEO Michal Nowakowski explained that after the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the number of employees working on the game was reduced to just 17, with the rest being deployed to other projects.
“In contrast, the Polaris team has grown to over 400 developers,” Nowakovsky said. “We’ve reached our target scale to get to production, which is scheduled for the second half of the year.”
This is an increase from the previous November, when it was revealed that around 330 developers were working on the project, making it the largest development team at CD Projekt at the time.
