Former President Trump’s national press secretary, Caroline Levitt, sharply criticized Vice President Harris’ actions in a social media post during an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, calling it a “train wreck.”
“Kamala Harris and Bret Baier’s interview was a total mess. Kamala was angry, defensive, and once again abdicating all responsibility for the problems facing Americans. She couldn’t answer a single question right away because she didn’t have an answer. Kamala’s entire campaign is based on lies about President Trump,” Leavitt said at X.
“Kamala can’t handle the pressure of being interviewed on Fox News. “Clearly she can’t handle the pressure of being President of the United States,” she added.
Harris sat down for one of the toughest interviews of her campaign on Wednesday, taking questions from Fox News’ Brett Baier and pressing him several times to answer questions more directly.
The two often argued with each other, talking about issues including immigration, President Biden’s mental health, transgender prisoners, and cases involving alleged immigrant murders.
Make America Great Again PAC similarly attacked Harris, calling her “angry” and “unfit.”
“The American public may never know Kamala Harris’ position on the issue because she spends more time on sex podcasts than news outlets asking simple questions. “Her angry and unstable behavior shows that she is unfit to be president and we expect her campaign to resume as a result.” In its statement, MAGA PAC appeared to be referencing Harris’ recent appearance on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast.
“But it makes sense that her team would keep her in the shadows of the media. “Her record has been a disaster and she is unable to form coherent sentences to save her life,” the group added in a statement.
The Hill has reached out to the Harris campaign for comment on Leavitt’s comments.
Harris campaign communications director Brian Fallon told reporters Wednesday evening that Harris did what she planned to do in the interview: get her message across to more conservative voters and prove her strength in the face of tough questions.
“I think there are a lot of independents and Haley-style Republicans who would be very open to voting for Vice President Harris,” Fallon said. “That’s why we’re open to doing events with Republicans and Fox News.”
“We feel like we definitely achieved what we set out to achieve in that we were able to reach an audience that may not have been exposed to the claims she made on the trail,” he continued. “And for her to also show her strength in standing up to a hostile interviewer.”
