For many Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans, the original animated series from the 80s and 90s was their introduction to the amphibious martial arts team. If you’re feeling nostalgic for the classic animated TV show, we’ve got good news for you: The entire animated series is coming to DVD. You can pre-order it on Amazon for $29 and it’ll be available on October 15.
$27.85 (previously $34)
This is Large collection Contains all 193 episodes of the original TMNT series across 23 DVDs. This isn’t the first box set of the animated show, but the previous releases are currently out of print and selling for much higher than their original price, making this new collection even more appealing.
This version of the TMNT cartoon ran for ten seasons from 1987 to 1996. Naturally, the series followed the Ninja Turtles Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael as they went on adventures against the Shredder, Krang, and various other mutants. Compared to later incarnations, the original TMNT show was cheesy and had very little animated violence, so you don’t have to worry about exposing your kids to questionable themes.

If you’re interested in exploring the later incarnations of the Turtles, the 2003 animated series is a bit darker, but has better animation, a more memorable story arc, and will likely appeal more to a slightly older audience. The entire 155 episodes are available in an 18-disc DVD box set for $47 (regularly $60).
Another TMNT series is the 2012 show that aired on Nickelodeon after purchasing the IP. It was the first TMNT series to be produced entirely in CG animation, and was critically acclaimed during its run. The series struck a fun balance between charming adventure and more mature content, and has arguably the best fight scenes in all of TMNT media. If you’re interested, all 124 episodes are spread across 20 discs and the box set costs $25.50 (regularly $34).
For more TMNT content, there are plenty of TMNT movies, too. The most recent is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which has a unique art style and a proper punk attitude. Of course, there are plenty of graphic novels and guidebooks, including TMNT: The Ultimate Visual History and a collection of IDW’s ongoing TMNT series. And for fans of the classic TMNT, there are a few collectibles from the Archie Comics and Mirage Comics runs available for pre-order.
