Earlier this week, Amazon and Walmart dropped limited-time deals on new Lego board games, and now those deals are even better. Family friendly strategy game The Lego Monkey Palace retails for just $25.56.This is more than 35% off the regular price of $40. Considering the retailer says it’s sold more than 10,000 Monkey Palace units in the past month, we wouldn’t be surprised if they sell out soon. The LEGO Store recently sold off all of its inventory at full price.
$26 (was $40)
Monkey Palace turns LEGO into a fast-paced, varied strategy game for 2 to 4 players. It’s not the first officially licensed Lego board game, but it’s the only one still in print. Older Lego board games tend to sell for somewhat higher prices, so it’s wise to add Monkey Palace to your collection sooner rather than later.
What happens when a monkey stumbles upon an ancient palace in the jungle and decides to give his new home a makeover? Of course, the entire building collapses, so now you and up to three other players will have to rebuild it from scratch.
To help the monkeys live large again, humans take turns adding Lego pieces to the makeshift stairs. Each piece is worth a certain number of Monkey Credits, which are exchanged for Monkey Cards. The monkey card you choose will determine the type of bricks you will use to build and decorate the stairs. As you build, you accumulate banana points, which are counted at the end of the game to determine the winner. The game lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Monkey Palace includes 231 bricks and multiple game boards, each presenting a unique challenge and adding replay value. There are many different ways to build a palace, so there are rules to follow, but it’s a fairly open game where each player approaches it from a different angle.
Lego enthusiasts have no shortage of new building sets to choose from this month. That’s because brick-building giant Lego released more than 100 playsets and display models on January 1st. If you’re interested in picking up a new LEGO build, check out the following list: Biggest releases:
