The Red Mario Red Nintendo Switch OLED is back on sale at Amazon with a pretty big discount. US customers can get the console for just $299 (previously $350). Not only is this the first major discount on the Switch OLED Mario Edition, but it’s also been out of stock quite often since it launched alongside Super Mario Bros. Wonder last October. This deal is likely to last, so now is the perfect time to grab one. Availability and pricing may vary by region, so not everyone will be able to take advantage of this deal.
If you want to pair a game featuring the famous plumber with your Mario Red Switch OLED, you can get Super Mario Bros. Wonder for $48 at Walmart (was $60). You can also create side-scrolling stages in Super Mario Maker 2, which is discounted to $40 (was $60). Role-playing game fans can get Super Mario RPG for $40 and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for $53 (both regularly $60).
If you’re looking for more special edition Nintendo Switch models (or you missed the sale), there’s also a gold Legend of Zelda edition Switch Lite available for pre-order. The console launches on September 26, and will be accompanied by the latest game in the Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which is also available for pre-order. If you buy the game at Best Buy, you’ll also get a collectible acrylic figure display set.
For those who prefer the full-sized Switch model, Nintendo has also announced that a new Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle will be available in October. The bundle will consist of either a standard Nintendo Switch with red and blue Joy-Cons or a Switch OLED model with white Joy-Cons, a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a 12-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online (normally $4 per month). Nintendo Switch Online will let you play a ton of games online, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as well as access a massive library of classic NES, SNES, and GameBoy games. An exact release date for the bundle hasn’t been revealed yet, but Nintendo has confirmed that the standard Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle will cost $300, while the Switch OLED bundle will retail for $350.
While we’ll have to wait a little longer for the new Switch bundle and special Zelda edition Switch Lite, the new console will be launching in time for Nintendo’s holiday game launches, including Mario Party Jamboree on October 17 and Mario & Luigi: Brothership on November 7. While it’s possible Nintendo will reveal a new Switch successor in the near future, there are plenty of notable exclusives coming to the Nintendo Switch, including Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Pokemon Legends: ZA, and the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond coming in 2025, plus a fantastic back catalog that makes the console worth buying.
