NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The LA Galaxy Academy U-17 team became tournament champions for the second consecutive season after defeating the Charlotte FC U-17s 4-1 in the 2024 U-17 MLS NEXT Cup Final at GEODIS Park in Nashville. Sunday night in Tennessee. Ruben Ramos Jr. scored a hat trick in the final and Jose “Pepe” Magana scored the game-winning goal against Charlotte.
U-17 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs Individual Awards
Following his victory in the 2024 MLS NEXT Cup, where he scored the game-winning goal in the final against Charlotte FC, Magana was named the MLS NEXT Cup MVP presented by adidas. Ramos Jr., who scored a tournament-high eight goals, was named MLS NEXT Cup top scorer. Additionally, goalkeeper Owen Pratt was named Best Goalkeeper in the MLS NEXT Cup presented by Allstate.

LA Galaxy Academy U-17 won 3-1 on penalties against San Jose Earthquakes after a 2-2 draw in the round of 16 on June 18. In the quarterfinals, LA Galaxy Academy won 2-2. June 19: Scoreless win over Sporting Kansas City. In a rematch of the 2024 Generation Adidas Cup Final, LA Galaxy drew 2–2 against Philadelphia Union Academy in regulation, before winning 5–3 in a penalty shootout on June 21. LA Galaxy Academy Success
Notably, LA Galaxy Academy became the first club in MLS NEXT history to capture the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs Championship in two different age groups in a single season. The LA Galaxy Academy U-15 team lost 3-1 to Chicago Fire FC in the 2024 U-15 MLS NEXT Cup Championship on June 23. In the 2024 Generation Adidas Cup U-17 Finals, LA Galaxy Academy U-17 team played against Philadelphia. Academy U-17s drew 2-2 in regulation but lost 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out on April 7.
