The Israeli military said Wednesday that regular infantry units and armored units would conduct limited, localized ground operations in southern Lebanon.
This comes after Israel said on Tuesday that commandos and paratroopers had crossed the border in a ground operation in Lebanon, according to Reuters.
Military officials say special forces have been carrying out ground raids targeting Hezbollah terrorist targets across the border for months, resulting in the discovery of tunnels and weapons under homes.
The IDF has met little resistance from Hezbollah after weeks of striking terror targets, officials said.
The infantry and armored units of the 36th Division consist of the Golani Brigade, the 188th Armored Brigade, and the 6th Infantry Brigade.
The addition of these troops suggests that ground operations in Lebanon have exceeded limited commando raids.

According to the Israeli military, the ground operation was designed primarily to destroy tunnels and other infrastructure along the Israel-Lebanon border. However, there are no plans to expand the operation to target Beirut or other major cities in southern Lebanon, he added.
