On Tuesday, Netflix removed the clip. The Witcher: Siren of the Deep At the company’s Geeked Week 2024 event, a clip from the upcoming animated film leans into the familiar sweet growl of Doug Cockle, who plays Geralt of Rivia in the games.
Cockle introduces the clip with an enthusiastic teaser about the mermaids Geralt will fight in the film. “That’s right, he’s going to swordfight with mermaids!” Cockle exclaims in the clip. “This is going to be awesome, this is going to be awesome.” Hey, you can’t blame a voice actor for hyping up a project.
The scene shows Geralt and Jaskier (voiced by Joey Batey, who played him in the live-action series) sitting around a campfire. After complaining about the “small-minded idiots” in the town, Jaskier notices Geralt’s interest in Essi and tries to play cupid to the melancholy white-haired monster hunter.
The clip also reveals: The Witcher: Siren of the DeepHere’s the official release date: The film was originally announced for late 2024, but will start streaming on Netflix on February 11, 2025.
This film is based on: A little sacrificeA short story written by The Witcher creator Andrzej Sapkowski. Set between episodes five and six of the Netflix series’ first season, the film follows Geralt as he “is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and is drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and mermaids.” It was produced by South Korean animation studio Studio MIR, which also produced the 2021 prequel film. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
