Snaking has been a big issue in the Call of Duty League over the past year or two. It’s a mechanism that can be very easily abused, and for many of today’s competitors it’s a muscle memory or reflex that can earn them reprimands from their peers. During the ongoing CDL Minor I tournament, C9’s ‘Sib’ blatantly brandished a snake, prompting other pro players to criticize his behavior.
On social media, LAT’s Ghosty revealed that voting has begun for Cloud 9 NY. Registered on blacklist Sib was kicked out of pro scrimmages for a week after being caught off guard at the Hacienda during a round of Hardpoint.

To Sib’s credit, he doesn’t try to avoid the branding he gets from Ghosty on social media. In response to Ghosty’s words, Sib raised his hand.
Yes, I hear you. I can’t justify driving a Lambo
But like Daniel, how long does this “precedent” actually last?
He refers to this moment like this:
Oddly enough, Sib asked Ghosty to keep ‘the same energy all year round’, explaining that players don’t care about GA’s ‘tournament times’ and that COD Champs ‘nobody says anything’. Ghosty returned to his authoritative tone.
I don’t agree with Champions being the final event, but I’d like to set a precedent because previous seasons have always been shit. We’re discussing it in the chat, but it won’t take a week or so. Punishments over the years
Other professional players, such as Gwinn of the Royal Ravens, also appeared in the thread. He jokingly asked if Ghosty was ‘officially a GA commissary’. This may be an area that needs to be filled.
TJHaly, who was a ‘victim’ of Sib’s snaking, said in a post-match interview:
I think you need to snake around the map a bit more to get more kills.
Do you think snaking is still a legitimate problem in Call of Duty esports, or should it just be seen as just another mechanic? Let us know in the Insider Gaming forums.
