Amit Yoran, a longtime entrepreneur and cybersecurity executive, passed away Friday after a battle with cancer.
Tenable, a cybersecurity company where Yoran served as CEO and chairman, announced his death in a press release. Before becoming CEO of Tenable in 2016, he held various positions including President of RSA, founding CEO of NetWitness, and CEO of In-Q-Tel.
Art Coviello, Tenable’s senior independent director, described Yoran in a statement as “an outstanding leader, colleague and friend.”
“His passion for cybersecurity, strategic vision, and ability to inspire those around him have shaped Tenable’s culture and mission,” Coviello said. “His legacy will continue to guide us as we move forward.”
Tenable said Yoran has been on medical leave since Dec. 5, and CFO Steve Vintz and COO Mark Thurmond have been named co-CEOs. They will continue to serve in that role while the company searches for a permanent CEO.
