Toronto police say they have charged an Ontario woman with a Facebook Marketplace scam that defrauded 28 people of nearly $70,000 worth of Taylor Swift concert tickets.
Police say the defendant used the alias ‘Dennis Blackhawk’ on popular social media platforms and offered various dates and seated tickets to a Taylor Swift concert in Toronto.
Investigators said the victims would electronically transfer money to the defendants to pay the full cost of the tickets once a price was agreed upon. Some of these tickets were also purchased in August 2023 when they first went on sale last year.

The defendant told the victims they would not receive tickets until a few days before the concert, police said.
The police said that on the day of the concert, the victims discovered that the tickets had not been transferred to their accounts, and when the victims demanded their money back, the defendant told them that the money was gone.
Taylor Swift performed six sold-out performances at Toronto’s Rogers Center as part of her Eras tour from November 14-16 and 21-23.
Police said a total of 28 victims purchased fraudulent tickets worth less than $70,000.
On Monday, police arrested a Burlington, Ont. Resident Denis Tisor.
Tisor is charged with 32 counts each of fraud under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Includes one count of fraud exceeding $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000.
Police said they believe there may be more victims and are encouraging anyone to come forward.
