Tacoma Defiance Press Release
Tacoma, Wash. – Tacoma Defiance announced today that it has exercised the 2025 contract options on six players, bringing the club’s roster to 10 players heading into the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season. After Tacoma was eliminated in the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs, Defiance has now officially entered the 2024-2025 offseason and is preparing for the next campaign.
“I want to congratulate the entire Tacoma Defiance staff on a successful 2024 campaign,” said Sounders FC Director of Development Wade Webber. “In his first season at the helm of Defiance, Hervé Diese and his staff have continued the club’s tradition of a player-centric, development-first environment, evidenced by another player making the leap to the First Team. We look forward to continuing this work. I’m happy for you in 2025.”
The following players have exercised their 2024 options: Osaje de Rosario, Lars Helleren, Elias Cacharos, Kalani Kosa-Rienzi, Antino Lopez and Yu Tsukanome. Four additional players are under contract for next season: Chris Aquino, Snyder Brunell, Sebastian Gomez and Antonio Herrera.
Tacoma declined contract options for Burke Palling and Pedro Rodriguez. Additionally, Brian Aguilar, Blake Bowen, Gio Miglietti, Owen O’Malley and Travian Sousa are all out of contract. Sousa is in active discussions with the club.
After earning the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 13-10-5 record in the regular season, Defiance topped Ventura County FC before falling to North Texas SC in the Western Conference semifinals. North Texas SC won the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Cup with a 3-2 win over Philadelphia Union II on Saturday, November 9.
