A suspect has appeared in court in a terrorist attack on a Christmas market in Germany last Friday that left five people dead and more than 200 injured.
The suspect is Taleb al-Abdulmosen, a Saudi Arabian doctor who entered Germany in 2006 and was recognized as a refugee in 2016.
It comes as German authorities face growing backlash after attackers used access lanes for emergency vehicles to enter the market.
On Saturday’s visit, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, his cabinet and local political leaders were booed by the public, some of whom appeared angry at what they accused of security lapses.
