PARIS – Summer McIntosh and Ethan Katzberg have been named Canada’s flag bearers at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.
Mackintosh became Canada’s first triple gold medalist, also taking silver in swimming.
The 17-year-old from Toronto has set two Olympic records in the pool.
Katzberg, from Nanaimo, British Columbia, won gold in the men’s hammer throw.
“Summer’s performance was a tour de force. To win three gold medals in one event is an incredible feat. Another huge success for Ethan, Canada’s first gold medal in the hammer throw and our first medal in the sport in 112 years,” said Eric Miles, chief sport officer for the Canadian Olympic Committee.
