The release and performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League earned Warner Bros. $200 million. This fact came from the company’s first quarter earnings report.
Warner Bros. said in the report that the game’s launch was “disappointing” and “generated significantly lower revenues.”
“Starting with Studios, the decline of more than $400 million year-over-year during the first quarter was primarily due to the very tough competition we faced against the success of Hogwart’s Legacy in the first quarter of last year and the disappointing release of Suicide Squad this year. The impairment occurred last quarter, impacting EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) by $200 million during the first quarter.” CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels spoke on an investor call after the report was released.
Release Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League suffered multiple delays and mixed feedback from players before the game was officially released. The game was pulled from stores shortly after its early access launch due to an auto-completion bug.
At the time of writing, the game has a critic rating of 60 (mixed) on Metacritic. The platform’s user rating is much lower at 3.5 out of 10.
