Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are looking to sell Omari Hutchinson for £25-30 million ($31.91-$38.3 million) during the summer transfer window. Several teams are interested in signing the 20-year-old, but Bundesliga powerhouse VfB Stuttgart are pushing the hardest to sign him.
Hutchinson, who plays as a right winger, joined Championship team Ipswich Town on loan at the beginning of the 2023-24 season. He exceeded his expectations, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists in 44 appearances in England’s second division. His goal contribution helped Ipswich finish second in the Championship standings and earn automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Hutchinson is due to return to Stamford Bridge on July 1, but according to Romano, the pensioners have no plans to keep him there for the 2024-25 season.
Fabrizio Romano says VfB Stuttgart are pushing to sign the Chelsea youngster.
Transfer expert Romano claims Dutch duo Ajax and Feyenoord are interested in Hutchinson. However, Chelsea may find it difficult to afford him as they are only interested in a permanent transfer. Stuttgart, who finished second in the Bundesliga standings ahead of Bayern Munich in 2023-24, appear ready to replace the young striker.
Highlighting Hutchinson’s situation, Romano said in his Daily Briefing column (via CaughtOffside):
“Chelsea’s idea is to benefit from Hutchinson and, for example, Ajax and Feyenoord is showing interest, and in the Bundesliga, Stuttgart is also showing interest and actively pursuing him.
“We also take a look at clubs in England, what decisions Ipswich Town will make after sending him on loan and whether Kieran McKenna remains at the club.”
He added:
“However, Hutchinson is sure to be a player to watch next week as Chelsea are preparing to sell and the fee they have in mind for him is in the region of £25-30m. Stuttgart really like the player and he is the favorite at this stage as Ajax and Feyenoord look unlikely to make a permanent move.
“There is also interest in the Premier League, and overall it looks difficult for Hutchinson to remain at Chelsea, and there are expectations that he will leave.“
