As EVO Japan comes to a close, Capcom has released the latest trailer for Akuma in Street Fighter 6. Akuma will join Street Fighter 6 as DLC on May 22, 2024..
In the video, along with the confirmation of the release date, his new and somehow more scary appearance was revealed. Outfit 2, the original outfit from Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo; And at the end, a particularly terrifying Raging Demon appears.
Although it’s not explicitly confirmed, it’s likely that Akuma’s Costume 2 will not only be optionally purchasable, but also unlockable through World Tour mode, just like every other character’s Costume 2 so far.
The arrival of Akuma concludes the first set of DLC fighters, which also included returning characters Ed and Rashid and newcomer AKI. This release continues Akuma’s inclusion in every Street Fighter game since his introduction in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. It is currently unknown how many DLC characters will be added in the future, nor is it known who will join next.
Street Fighter 5, which got off to a much worse start than the critically acclaimed Street Fighter 6, ended up getting a whopping 30 DLC fighters over its seven-year lifespan. Street Fighter 5’s starting roster has only two fewer fighters than Street Fighter 6 (16 and 18, respectively). So while the exact future of Street Fighter 6 DLC is unknown, it’s a safe guess that Street Fighter 5 will be receiving more DLC fighters before we know it.
DLC for Street Fighter 6 includes character costumes. The DLC characters don’t have Costume 3 yet, but there will be in the future. Outfit 3 of the starting roster is currently available.
