Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is the latest Disney Plus series set in a galaxy far, far away. Instead of focusing on the main Jedi heroes, the show follows four unlikely child heroes who travel to the far reaches of the galaxy after making an incredible discovery.
To them, the Jedi are just a fairy tale. According to co-creator Christopher Ford, this was all part of the plan. “We wanted to include the idea that these kids were told stories about the Jedi and good and evil in the same way that on our planet we have fairy tales or Arthurian stories about the Knights of the Round Table,” he told HoloFiles.
The biggest name attached to the series is Academy Award nominee Jude Law. Details about his character have been kept secret until now. Joining him are Ravi Cabot-Conyers as Wim, Robert Timothy Smith as Neel, Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Fern, Kyriana Kratter as KB, Nick Frost, Kerry Condon and TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe. Jon Watts co-created the show with Ford and shares writing credits for six of the season’s eight episodes.
Skeleton Crew is a standalone series spun off from the Skywalker series. This is a good thing. Instead of exploring dark themes like The Acolyte, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew seems to use Amblin-style visuals and nostalgia to bring a sense of childlike fun to the Star Wars universe. But can it succeed where previous Star Wars shows have faltered? We’ve listed the full episode release schedule below, so you can plan your viewing accordingly.
