Just days after their hopes of a top 14 title were dashed by Bordeaux-Beglès in the semi-finals, Stade Francais have revealed major changes to their squad ahead of next season.
The Parisians have confirmed that 12 players have left Stade Jean-Bouin, including centurion Laurent Panis, lock Mathieu de Giovanni, full-back Kylan Hamdaoui and fly-half Joris Segonds.
Former France scrum-half Rory Cocotte is likely to be the first to miss out on the squad, having come out of retirement at the start of the season to join the side as a medical joker but has performed well.
Georgia national team prop Basil Kakobin, flanker Giorgi Tsutskirze, Australian center Sepanaia Nayvalu, backrower Giovanni Havel-Küppner, hooker Mikael Ibaldi, flanker Julien Ori and winger Stefan Ahmed complete the list. do.
The 12 departures saw a raft of players arrive in the French capital, with the club announcing nine new signings, including four internationals.
French flyhalf Louis Carbonell has joined the club from Top 14 rivals Montpellier, while France international Yoann Tanga has also joined from La Rochelle.
Italian hooker Giacomo Nicotera and Portuguese winger Raffaele Costa Storti have joined from Benetton and Beziers respectively to complete the list of internationals.
France’s lower divisions have proven to be a rich source of players for Stade Francais, who have signed hooker Luca Petriashvili from Nationale side Carcassonne and Biarritz full-back Joe Jonas from Pro D2.
The final three signings are Pau winger Samuel Ezeala, Montpellier fly-half Louis Foursans-Bourdette and Bayonne back-row Pierre Huguet, who are all ranked in the top 14.
“These are players we have been targeting for several months and we are delighted to have them join us,” said Stade Français coach Laurent Ravit.
“They fit perfectly into our project and meet the conditions that allow us to continue the work already done this season. Serious players working humbly in a common dynamic – this will be the main motif for next season.
“Stade Français Paris must lead the way every year, and these reinforcements give us the means to do so.”
