ah, Flappy Bird. It’s been a while since I last thought about the cultural phenomenon that went from a game that briefly stumped us all a decade ago. At least that was the case until this morning. I happened to come across a post on Reddit announcing the following: flappy bird I gave Playdate a thumbs up and sideloaded it onto my device without a moment’s hesitation. Now I am once again completely fascinated by this crazy little game. And using the crank to control that silly-looking bird is much more difficult this time around. Flappy Bird Just like the OG game, but in grayscale. You can play using the top button on the D-pad, the ‘A’ button, or a crank to guide the bird between pipes, but I chose the latter for the extra challenge it adds. It also feels like a perfect use of the crank, and I like to make the most of the Playdate’s funky design whenever possible. This is definitely one way to get your heart rate up on a Sunday afternoon. Just don’t ask me about my high score. I am… I don’t want to talk about it.
