PlayStation Plus Premium adds three new PS2 games to its catalog. But the retro news doesn’t end there, as some classic titles have been upgraded with Platinum Trophy support!
As listed in the PSN profile, the following games have been updated to fully include trophy support: Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, and Toy Story 3.
Sony hasn’t commented on the changes, so it’s unclear why these games are suddenly blessed by the trophy hunting gods. Many first-party Sony titles have trophies, but third-party games have received sporadic support. The games listed above are all third-party titles, so the fact that they were all randomly updated seems to suggest that Sony was the driving force behind this decision.
This isn’t your typical trope either, as it looks like some thought went into it. While both Toy Story games task players with hunting down all the collectibles, Oddworld has themed games like killing Abe through falling or an electric wall.
The emergence of trophy support for these games raises the question of whether games like Tekken 2 or Ridge Racer will also receive trophy support. Still, it’s nice to see Sony supporting a catalog of emulated games. Especially now it looks like PS2 games will also offer more features.
