Vancouver’s BC Place stadium has been selected as one of the host stadiums for the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, a biennial regional championship representing North, Central and Caribbean nations.
CONCACAF, the regional soccer governing body, announced the host cities for the tournament, which runs from June 14 to July 6, on Wednesday. CONCACAF said the match assignments would be announced at a later date.
BC Place is also slated to host the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Gold Cup will once again be held in the United States, with Vancouver competing for the first time.
The only other Canadian stadium to have hosted a Gold Cup game is BMO Field in Toronto, where two games were held in 2015 and one in 2023.
It is not yet clear whether the BC Place renovations planned for the World Cup will be completed in time for the Gold Cup. PavCo, the Crown corporation that owns the stadium, submitted a request for proposals in December for a construction manager to oversee the necessary work.
According to PavCo’s RFP, BC Place, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, needs to add VIP suites and hospitality space on the third floor of the stadium, upgrade food court concessions, renovate restrooms and add more elevators.
The state government said in April that it would cost between $149 million and $196 million to renovate the World Cup and host the tournament.
